These courses are easily accessible and are minutes from Scenic City Properties’ St. Elmo and Fort Wood rental vacations. Wake up and simply drive to any of these amazing acres and experience the thrill of a match play or a practice play. We have included a short description and a little about them to allow you to pick the best course for your family, friends, and, of course, you.
Designed by Donald Ross, the Brainerd Golf Course is the oldest in Chattanooga. Its mature trees and rolling acreage are perfect for golf experts. For those who want to play but do not know how, lessons can be had for any age and ability. Plus, a full-service shop and snack bar make sure you have the energy you need to play a round or two, or more.
Built in 1959, this 18-hole, semi-private golf course has witnessed 9 PGA tours as well as nationwide events. Serious golfers would gulp in awe at the course’s more than 6,000 yards of challenging shot maker’s layout. But casual players are sure to have fun at Valleybrook’s practice greens as well as driving range. After all, that teeing, make sure to go get eating. A bar and restaurant offer full-service as well as opportunities for it to be rented for special events.
Specially designed by Jack Nicklaus, Bear Trace is described as “the best natural piece of land for a golf course.” It is also a mere twenty minutes north of Chattanooga’s downtown. Serious golfers will appreciate the course being surrounded by water and wooded land, as well as more than 419 Bermuda fairways. Though challenging, there are tons of safe spaces to play in. It is also friendly to high-handicap golfers.
Golf your heart out while being away from it all while still being close to town. The Montlake Golf Course is a lovely mountaintop course that features natural boulder formations and a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Do expect a challenging game thanks to changes in elevation, and distracting but lovely scenic vistas. Whether you’re a new player or an expert enthusiast, prepare to see your shot fly over large limestone boulders. This golf course is a definite must-see.
All these courses, besides being free to play in without needing to be - or knowing - a member, are a quick drive from Scenic City Properties’ St. Elmo and Fort Wood rental vacations. Head to the greens after a lovely slumber, or go home to Scenic City Properties’ lovely downhome abodes after a day of hitting a tee, or two. Chattanooga is truly the place for golfers like you.
